The ANC Youth League wishes all South Africans a safe and pleasant cross-over to 2014. We are delighted that our democracy has stood the test of time and the reconciliation process that was led by the ANC has been successful. We call on all our fellow South Africans to embrace each other into limitless prosperity.
We get into 2014 knowing that we will begin our 20 years of Freedom Celebrations and hold our country`s 5th National and Provincial Elections. We are confident that both these key milestones of democracy will take place in a favorable environment. To us as young people, 2014 will be a time for reflection and appreciation of the role played by the 1976 generation and its forebears. The fruits of democracy that we enjoy are as a result of their sacrifices and belief that South Africa can be a democratic country. Thus, the best sign of appreciation by our generation is to VOTE ANC in 2014.
In 2014, as the ANC Youth League we shall ensure that we hold all 9 Provincial Congresses and the National Congress wherein the leading forces of young people of South Africa will map the way-forward to another 20 years of democracy ushering in practical movement towards the realization of economic freedom of the majority of South Africans. We will intensify our struggle for betterment of the learning environment in the tertiary institutions, access to basic and efficient health care by all and engage in practical measures to ensure youth employment.
As the ANC Youth League of Nelson Mandela, Oliver Tambo and Anton Lembede, we will be having programmes to continuously celebrate the life of the last to depart from us amongst those who founded the ANC Youth League in 1944, Comrade President Nelson Mandela. These legacy celebrations will reach their peak during the months of July (Mandela`s birth month) and September (our 70th Anniversary month).
