Statement on first black South African to go to the moon
25 December 2013
The ANC Youth League is of the conviction that nothing is impossible under Freedom and Democracy.
The ANC Youth League would like to celebrate and extol the first black South African, who is "poised to defy the laws of physical and political gravity", Mandla Maseko who hails from the dusty streets Mabopane.
This will happen as South Africa will be celebrating 20 years of democracy and freedom, in 2014, this was not going to be possible under apartheid. We would like to call on all young people to guard our democracy and freedom jealously as this is the only way that guarantees dreams to be fulfilled.
Like Mandla did, he saw the advert and entered the competition and after gruelling months of the competition he emerged victorious. This shows that no matter what your background and life situation is, with the dream, dedication coupled with hard-work a young person can make it.
To us as the ANC Youth League, this is great life lesson to all us, young and old.
