ANC Youth League statement against calls for President Zuma to resign
18 December 2013
The ANC Youth League has noted calls made by the newly elected President of NUMSA, calling for President Jacob Zuma to resign.
We call on those who made such unfortunate calls to hold their horses and they should not get ahead of themselves. They should await the release of the Public Protector findings before they make such nonsensical pronouncements.
Such calls are aimed at undermining democracy by calling for short-cuts and short-circuiting the democratic process and they should wait for the elections which are held every 5 years to elect its preferred political party to govern the country.
We view such calls as publicity stunts and attention seeking behavior which are aimed at derailing our election campaign. President Jacob Zuma has been persecuted by the media and unscrupulous individuals based on unfounded and baseless allegations.
As the ANC Youth League, we call on all those who are being persuaded by such to refrain from such.
The ANC Youth League believes President Jacob Zuma has done a sterling job. The ANC Youth League supports President Jacob Zuma unreservedly and we shall stand by him all the way to the 2014 Elections.
