Youth League`s statement of the decision of the Tshwane Metro Police response to the Economic Freedom Mass Action
25 October 2011
The ANC Youth League notes the public statement released by Tshwane Metro Police that the ANC Youth League will not be granted an opportunity to hold a Night-Vigil at the Union Buildings on the 27th of October 2011. It should be placed on context that the decline to hold a Night-Vigil is not a decline to march to the Union Buildings and that the decline only relates to the Union Buildings being the security of a National Key Point governed by the National Key Points Act. 102 of 1980.
The leadership of the ANC Youth League is in discussions with Tshwane Metro Police and other relevant authorities on the venue of the Night-Vigil for the 27th of October 2011, because there is agreement that on the 28th of October 2011, the Mass Action will proceed to the Union Buildings. All young people and South Africans who are attending the mass action should do so because it is going ahead as planned, only that the night vigil will happen on a separate venue in Pretoria.
