Statement on the fake Twitter Account

8 September 2015

The African National Congress Youth League is fresh from its 25th National Congress which was held on the 4th till the 6th of September 2015. We are very pleased about the proceedings and the robust debates that happened at our National Congress. We are particularly happy with the fact that congress was a success because it was able to conclude its business and review policy decisions for implementation. The Congress also successfully elected new leadership of the organisation.

The newly Elected NEC has been in office for only Two Days and has not had its first meeting to deal with its constitutional obligations amongst others portfolio allocations. prior to the sitting of this N.E.C Meeting The ANCYL does not have a spokesperson. The Media and all interested parties are request to schedule interviews and media briefing requests through the office of the Secretary General.

We note with great dismay that a fake twitter account has been opened in the name of the ANC Youth League President. We would like to warn members in the social media space not to fall for this trap which is instituted to cause chaos and confusion about how the ANC Youth League operates. We are going to do everything in our power to make sure that these social media criminals are identified and exposed.

It is with great jubilance to note that the ANC Youth League will be turning 71 Years on the 10th of September 2015. To celebrate the birth of the ANC Youth League the organisation will launch its Birthday month celebration festivities in Mpumalanga on the 10th of September 2015 in Nkangala District Municipality (Mpumalanga Province) at 17h00.
