ANCYL NTT statement on the failed court interdict

3 September 2015

The National Task Team (NTT) of the ANCYL welcomes the decision of the Pretoria devision of the High court to dismiss, with costs, the interdict application by individual members of the ANCYL from the North West Province.

It has been the view of the NTT from the onset, that there were no grounds for the interdict based on, supposed, unresolved disputes. The NTT has endeavored to ensure that all disputes were resolved by an independent team that received all disputes from all provinces and dealt with them impartially.

This rushed interdict was clearly calculated to undermine the process of rebuilding and re-establishing the ANCYL at a national level by individuals who we suspect have a different agenda from that of the organisation. While in principle we don`t have a problem with people approaching courts for recourse, the organisation has it`s own internal processes to resolve disputes and the failure by anybody to utilize this, suggests a malicious intent as is the case on this matter.

On the hills of this judgement, the 25th National Congress of the ANCYL will proceed as planned as from tomorrow morning. We are looking forward to fruitful engagements and adoption of forward looking resolutions and strategies. The NTT will be happy to hand the baton of national leadership to the newly elected NEC.
